As the campaign continues and goes into a transition, there are many firms who are considering their level of support and the timing for it. Considering our present economic conditions, we are happy to announce that the investments to date to have been a success. As we go into a campaign transition, we will focus on those potential investors who have been contacted and are considering their level of investment. When the economy improves, we will approach a number of other potential investors who want to support the economic development efforts as their financial indicators show that the time is right. We want to again thank all of our early investors for understanding that in tight budget times funding for economic development is more important than ever. “A Crisis is a Terrible Thing to Waste,” Paul Romer, Stanford University Economist
Few would doubt that the United States economy is in a state of crisis on a scale not seen in most of our lifetimes. Our country is in serious need of leadership to regain the path to economic sustainability. Federal policy will have a major impact on economic development in general, but like politics, all economic development is, ultimately, local. It will be proactive local communities who will stimulate national economic recovery and these communities require local leadership, local strategy and local resources to achieve results.
On a local level, leaders need a plan, timeline, accountability and resources to push or pull their local economies forward. And in this climate of crisis The Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc. and the Greater Richmond Chamber is ready to provide an economic development program for the next five years that focus on the following:
1. New Business Attraction and Regional Marketing
2. Retain and Expand Local Business
3. Workforce Development
4. Grow Small Business
5. Infrastructure
We need your commitment to back the Greater Richmond: Globally Focused, Regionally Competitive program. Please take some time to seriously consider how you can support future economic growth and add your name to the Honor Roll below. Thank you for your consideration.
