Moving Forward with Capital Campaign for the Greater Richmond Region
A 12-month campaign has been put into place to support the Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc. (GRP) and Greater Richmond Chamber (GRC) in its efforts to aggressively attract and retain businesses in the region. Economic development within Greater Richmond will be taken to the next level from 2009-2014 with a program that is based on five specific and measurable goals and strategies. Within the website, www.FundingGRP.biz, you will find program details that focus on bringing over 37,000 new jobs to the community with over $1.75 billion in new capital investments.
The development phase of the campaign has great momentum and community Leadership has begun to step forward. The Leadership will form the campaign organization and support the GRP and GRC in their five-year business attraction and retention program. Gail Letts, President and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Central Division and Bobby Ukrop, President and CEO of Ukrop's Super Markets, Inc. have graciously accepted to be General Co-Chairs for the campaign.
Katherine Busser, Executive Vice President of Capital One Financial Services, Ted Chandler, Chairman and CEO of LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc. and John R. Nelson, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of the Altria Group, Inc., have accepted leadership roles within the Campaign Development Council.
Marshall Morton, President and CEO of Media General will be helping in the Advance Division.
Dennis Ryan, Attorney at Law of LeClairRyan, Thurston Moore, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Hunton & Williams, James W. Theobald, Attorney at Law for Hirschler Fleischer and Dwayne Meeks, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Virginia District of United Parcel Service have agreed to help with the Leadership Division.
